2026 Special Guest Speaker

GERALD D. (“GERRY”) GRIFFIN ’56

Gerry Griffin ’64 is the former Director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center and a key leader in America’s space program. He also served in senior roles at Kennedy Space Center, the Dryden (now Armstrong) Flight Research Center, and NASA Headquarters.

Gerry began his NASA career in 1964 as a flight controller before becoming a Flight Director for every crewed Apollo mission. He led the “Gold Team,” directing half of the Moon landings and playing a critical role in the safe return of Apollo 13.

A Texas A&M aeronautical engineering graduate, Gerry was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force and served as a weapon systems officer before continuing his aerospace career and joining NASA.

After leaving NASA, he served as President and CEO of the Greater Houston Chamber of Commerce and later as Managing Director of Korn/Ferry’s Houston office. He remains active as a consultant and advisor.

Gerry’s honors include the Presidential Medal of Freedom (Apollo 13 team), NASA’s Distinguished Service Medal, and Texas A&M’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
